B-Grade: This Batch Has a Noticeable Odor

The SQMIZE® BBP-XS series is virtually odor-free. This batch does not meet that standard: The rubber has a noticeable inherent odor, which varies in intensity from plate to plate. The cause is a deviation in the material mixture during production. All plates in this set come from this batch.

Everything else corresponds to the standard series specifications. Dimensional accuracy, weight tolerance, hardness, rebound characteristics, stainless steel insert, and load capacity have been tested and approved without any changes. The statutory warranty applies in full.

The odor gradually fades over time. In a well-ventilated room, it decreases significantly during the first few weeks; outdoors or with an open window, it disappears more quickly. If the plates are used in a garage, basement, or outdoor area, the odor is usually barely noticeable from the start.

For this reason, we are offering this batch at a reduced price.

The Complete Series in One Set

Ten plates, all five weight increments of the BBP-XS series. With a 20 kg Olympic barbell, every load from 30 kg to 170 kg is available in 10 kg increments, including fine intermediate steps.

What's Included in the Set

Stainless Steel Ring and Rubber Compound

All plates are made from a high-strength solid rubber compound, with color pigments integrated directly into the material. The inner ring is made of stainless steel and has rounded edges to protect both the rubber and the bar shaft. With a 50.4 mm opening, each plate fits a professional Olympic barbell with 50 mm sleeves. Each plate features the SQMIZE® logo and weight indication in kg.

With ten plates, the slim design of the series pays off most clearly. For heavy sets, the 25 kg plates go on the inside, while the smaller increments follow on the outside and provide the fine adjustments — leaving enough room on the sleeves for whatever combination is needed.

Consistent Hardness Across All Five Increments

86 Shore A applies to every plate in the set. Accordingly, the rebound is low: The barbell lands, bounces briefly, and stays in place. During snatches, cleans, and jerks, this provides controlled conditions for the next attempt, and with the heavy loads this set can handle, that is exactly what matters.

The outer diameter is consistently 450 mm. This means the bar always starts from the same height, regardless of which combination is loaded — from a technique session with two 5 kg plates to the full set. The series has undergone more than 15,000 drops in testing.

A Word About Toxic Substances

We do not use plasticizer oils rich in aromatic compounds during production, from which polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) can be released. Compliance documentation in accordance with RoHS and REACH is available for the BBP-XS series.
