B-Grade: This Batch Has a Noticeable Odor

The SQMIZE® BBP-XS series is virtually odor-free. This batch does not meet that standard: The rubber has a noticeable inherent odor, which varies in intensity from plate to plate. The cause is a deviation in the material compound during production.

Everything else corresponds to the standard series specifications. Dimensional accuracy, weight tolerance, hardness, rebound characteristics, stainless steel insert and durability have all been tested and approved without any changes. The statutory warranty remains fully applicable.

The odor will fade over time. In a well-ventilated room, it decreases significantly over the first few weeks; outdoors or with the window open, the process is faster. If the plates are used in a garage, basement or outdoor area, the odor is usually barely noticeable from the beginning.

For this reason, we are offering this batch at a reduced price.

15 kg for the Big Jump

With the 15 kg plate, the load increases in 30 kg increments per pair. This is the level for working sets once the warm-up sequence is complete and the focus shifts to volume. Together with the 5 kg and 10 kg plates in the series, any target load can be assembled precisely without creating a pile of small plates on the floor. The SQMIZE® BBP-XS series redefines the price-performance ratio in the field of bumper plates: high-strength solid rubber compound, classic black design and professional quality at an affordable price.

Mass in the Rubber Instead of the Metal

56 mm in thickness with a 450 mm outer diameter — the 15 kg comes from the solid rubber itself. That is exactly what makes the plate a bumper plate: The mass is contained in the compound, which absorbs the impact, while the stainless steel inner ring only provides the connection to the bar. The color pigments are incorporated directly into the rubber compound rather than applied to the surface.

The inner ring has rounded edges and runs smoothly with its 50.4 mm opening on any professional Olympic barbell with a 50 mm sleeve. This makes changing plates between sets quick and easy, even when several plates per side need to be changed.

86 Shore A Under Full Load

At 86 Shore A, the compound is on the harder end of the bumper plate scale. Accordingly, the rebound is low: The barbell lands, bounces briefly and stays in place. During heavy sets of cleans and jerks, this is exactly what matters, as the bar should remain within reach after being dropped. The series has undergone more than 15,000 drops in testing.

In training, the 15 kg plate covers the upper range. For deadlifts, squats and rowing movements, it brings the load up to the desired level with just a few plates, while during hang snatches the bar remains at full pulling height because the diameter is identical across all weight increments.

A Word About Toxic Substances

We do not use plasticizer oils rich in aromatic compounds during manufacturing, from which polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) can be released. Compliance documentation in accordance with RoHS and REACH is available for the BBP-XS series.
