Back extension machines are among the pieces of equipment that are rarely left unused in the gym. The SQMIZE® ELITE CLUB SQ-M520 brings the gym-style design to a 108 x 67 cm footprint: 45° incline, split hip pad, 12-position height adjustment, and a 5 mm steel footplate.

The 45° Design

Resistance builds throughout the movement and reaches its maximum at the horizontal position—where the torso is extended and stable, and the muscles benefit the most. The lower pivot point remains unloaded.

For exercisers who use the back extension machine as a high-volume exercise several times a week, this is the most effective design: high intensity in the position where the spine begins its movement smoothly.

12 Height Positions

The top edge of the pad should be positioned just below the iliac crest. There, the pelvis tilts freely, the torso remains extended as a single unit, and the movement originates from the hips.

12 positions cover the range a gym needs: from a short-legged female exerciser to a 1.95-meter-tall man on the same machine. Adjustment is quick and easy—which matters when the machine changes users between sets.

Split hip pad

The upper pad is divided into two sections, each measuring 21 x 26 cm and 5.5 cm thick. There is space in the middle, so the pressure is distributed across the front of both thighs. That’s why the twelfth set feels just like the second.

A 26-cm support length on each side provides the thigh with a wide contact surface over which the weight is distributed evenly.

Footplate with 40 cm of usable height

The SQ-M520 features a continuous steel plate with 40 cm of usable height and a material thickness of 5 mm, tapering in width from 41.5 to 50 cm.

The 40 cm is the real benefit. You can freely choose the foot height, thereby changing the angle at which the body rests on the cushion: a lower setting makes the movement longer, while a higher setting makes it shorter and more controlled. Two users with different leg lengths can both find their ideal position at the foot, while the cushion remains in place.

Frame, Footprint, Transport

The frame consists of 60 x 40 mm steel tubing with a wall thickness of 3 to 4 mm. For a piece of equipment that supports the user in an inclined position while absorbing lateral forces, wall thickness is the critical factor—and 3 to 4 mm meets commercial-grade standards.

The footprint measures 108 x 67 cm with a height of 91.5 cm. With a net weight of 26 kg, the machine remains stable during use and can be moved on its own using two plastic casters on the frame: in the studio during group classes as well as in a home gym, where it can be moved against the wall between workouts.
