Hamburg Competition Power Bar SQMIZE® PREMIUM BISON OB86PL-HTz Black Zinc – Made in Germany

The Hamburg Competition Powerlifting Bar SQMIZE® PREMIUM BISON OB86PL-HTz bears the Made in Germany hallmark. Its key features: high-strength specialty steel with certified strength values, a 29 mm shaft, four oversized Elite bronze bushings, and IPF marking with centre knurling. The alloy specialty steel has a static load capacity of up to 1,150 kg.

Developed with the National Coach

We developed this Powerlifting Bar together with Francesco Virzi, former coach of the German Powerlifting Federation BVDK. When it was introduced, he wrote about it: “A standardised bar ideal for Powerlifting home gyms and smaller competitions – highly loadable, with excellent grip.” Since then, the bar has developed into a classic.

Further Developed: From “Ordinary” to “Sharp”

There has been no technical standstill when it comes to grip. What Virzi described as “ordinary” back then has been continuously refined: Today, the bar has a “sharp” grip rating – excellent grip that remains consistent across the entire length of the shaft, without losing grip towards the ends. During squats, bench presses and deadlifts, it sits firmly and securely in the hands, even with maximum weights and intense training sessions.

Made in Germany – Assembled and Tested South of Hamburg

Each of these Power Bars is assembled at our facility south of Hamburg and tested before shipping. Made in Germany is not just a label to us, but the final step in the manufacturing process: We retain control over every component, and every bar passes through our hands before it reaches you. That is precisely what distinguishes the Hamburg Competition from a purely imported bar.

Core Feature: 4 Oversized Elite Bronze Bushings

Rotation is provided by four Elite bronze bushings in an oversized design. Powerlifting does not require free, fast spin, but controlled, smooth rotation: The bar should remain stable during squats, bench presses and deadlifts rather than moving ahead of the athlete. That is exactly what the bronze bushings deliver – a balanced powerlifting spin that is easy on the joints.

Specialty Steel with 238,900 PSI – Certified by a German Testing Laboratory

The OB86PL-HTz is made from alloy specialty steel that achieves a Tensile Strength of 238,900 PSI; the Yield Strength is 216,500 PSI. Both values were tested and certified by an independent German testing laboratory. The static load capacity is 2,550 lbs (1,150 kg). In addition to chromium and molybdenum, the silicon content provides the necessary elasticity – although deliberately restrained for a Powerlifting Bar so that the bar remains stiff under maximum load.

Grip, Knurling and IPF Marking

The grip area has a diameter of 29 mm – the Powerlifting standard. The knurling is sharp and provides maximum power transfer: You feel the connection to the bar with every repetition. The centre knurling provides additional support on the back during squats and prevents the bar from slipping. For regulation-compliant gripping, the bar features IPF marking at a distance of 810 mm.

Coating: Black Zinc and Zinc Silver Matte

The shaft features a Black Zinc coating, while the barbell sleeves have a Zinc Silver Matte finish. The combination of matte black and silver gives the bar its distinctive appearance while also providing solid rust resistance on the heavily used sleeves. The bar is sealed with high-quality SQMIZE® Dual Snap Ring end caps.

Scope of Delivery and Care

Included in delivery is one Hamburg Competition Powerlifting Bar SQMIZE® PREMIUM BISON OB86PL-HTz. The bar is classified as Commercial Grade and is therefore designed for continuous use in commercial gym environments. It is supplied from the factory with a protective layer of oil and film – remove the oil with a dry, soft cloth before first use. All further care instructions can be found in the enclosed leaflet and in our information on 50 mm barbells on our website.

* The warranty against bending requires proper handling of the barbell. It does not apply in cases of negligent or improper use. The warranty also becomes void if the bar is modified, improperly maintained or improperly stored.
